One of these songs will probably not go on the CD. But I'll release it in some other form.

I don't have the artwork done yet and it's definitely a puzzler this time. I know what I want but accomplishing it will not be easy. I was just in South Carolina and had thought that I might try to get the cover shots done down there, as I need a warmer climate. It wound up being too cold for what I needed to do. Since I've set my finish deadline for end of MAY, I will have to take a trip down south (maybe Florida) very soon to get the shots I need. I should have a contigency plan but I really cannot come up with any alternatives. It's not something I want to fake with Photoshop.

It's too bad really, but at this moment I almost feel like I've done ENOUGH work on this album. Sometimes I get like that.....where I feel like the hardest part is finished (the writing and programming) and now I just wish someone else would take over and hand it back to me in the form of a CD. This feeling will pass as soon as I get back into work-mode. I don't mean to sound Grinchy but the holidays lately, only serve to delay my work. I love giving gifts and making merry. Just wish it didn't take so long to do.

Over the holiday I went to see Lord of the Rings. I really loved it. I thought the casting was superb. It's not often that one can say that. It did give me a pang though. Every time a movie comes out that my music ISN'T in.....I'm reminded of how "quiet" my career has been. I mean, if you look up "slow-burner" in the dictionary, there's a picture of me. I'm not sure I even qualify as a slow-burner at this point. I think I'm more like an ember that keeps threatening to singe something flame-resistant.

Have you ever noticed how if you have "IRON CHEF" playing on your TV in the background, it really helps you to concentrate?....There's just something meditative about the bad dubbing voices.

Have you ever noticed that any time they show "DIE HARD" on TV, you just HAVE to watch it, regardless of the fact that you own the video and you've seen it about 25 times?

I was in a WalMart just before Christmas, buying some film and batteries for my camera. A lady was checking out in front of me, with all of her gifts for her family. Since she was chatting it up with the cashier about how cute her "Frosty the Snowman" appliqu³d sweater was, I had plenty of time to take a visual account of her purchases. I found her choices fascinating. For her husband.......a case of Motor Oil, some other cans of similarly viscous car products, a mysterious, small box with some hunting-type logos on the outside...In addition to that testosterone-fest, there were a couple of pairs of stretch denim jeans, a fragrance gift set, a little girl's pink outfit with pictures of some animated character on the shirt, a plastic little princess jewelry set and various other sundry items. The final scanned item was a sheet of over-baked cinnamon buns from the bakery, that had red, white and blue frosting drizzled over them. She volunteered the info that she was going to go home and "pop that sucker right in the microwave." "Mmmmmmmm", replied the cashier. I wish it were socially acceptable to laugh outloud sometimes.

We each have our own joy.
