I can't believe it's December already. I used to love the Winter. I used to love the cold and dark weather. I don't so much anymore. Is this a sign that I'm aging? I remember not so long ago, I would readily sacrifice warmth for fashion. Now I would wear a Yak if it meant I'd be warm......it's that aging thing again...

I want to thank all of you who responded to my tale of being dropped by Samson. Your support is heartily welcomed. As a final note on that topic, I want to emphasize that Samson was always good to me (if not good FOR me), and they gave more than they were ever obligated to give. I will always be grateful to them. The people who affected me negatively had very little to do with my relationship with the rest of the company. I do wish them success.

I'm currently working on my album. I'm doing it slowly and trying not to have a problem with that. It's not lost on me that I have historically done an album per year and here it is two years past my last release. It's amazing to me how this one is panning out. It is nothing like "Many Worlds". As you all know, I'm a science fiction freakazoid and MWABT reflected that. But so far, the theme of my current writing seems to be inner-world oriented. That's not a new thing for me but it's different this time I think. There is a deep sadness that has found a home in my heart lately. Of course, this gets reflected in my songwriting and I'm finding that old rules don't apply to me anymore. The reasons for my making music seem to have changed-probably numerous times over the past two years.

I'd like to touch on a couple of subjects....

Some of you reading this may not be familiar with the electronic mailing list called, "ECTO". Simply put, it's a group of people from diverse backgrounds, discussing music, life and occasionally Happy Rhodes. In the recent past, there have been some questions put forward, to which I have the answers. There are references I make to "Oxy and Eze" in the song, "Dying" from Building the Colossus. For those curious few, "Oxy" is my nephew (full name, Oliver Oxygen Rhodes) and "Eze" is his brother (full name, Ezekiel Joe Rhodes). Since writing that song, there has been an addition to my brother's family - Soliloquy Violet Rhodes. I already feel sorry for that poor little girl, having two older brothers. Kidding aside, my brothers are my breath and I hope she has that experience too.

There was also the unrelated mention of "Oxy and Nitro" in a much earlier song, "Moonbeam Friends" ......that was just short for Oxygen and Nitrogen. Maybe I was picking up on a future son of my brother's? - or not.

The other question that came out of that, was in regard to the names of my cats. I have four now. Two are adopted, one adopted me and the other has been my best friend for 8 years. Their names will remain with me, not because I use them for passwords but because they've been so hounded by the paparazzi ever since the "incident".....they really need their anonymity right now. But they do want me to pass along that all donations of tuna and pizza go to
