Latest Thoughts - Page 3 Also, there’s a new kid on the block mixing my album. Bob Muller (producer/engineer/fiance) had started mixing three songs. But we felt that they were lacking something. After hearing Mark Owen’s take on 3 songs, we were convinced; the mixes need new blood. His first mix was “Charlie”, a song about Charles Crumb. It really clinched it for me. It’s a deceptively innocent sounding song, with disturbing lyrics. Mark did it justice. He also mixed a song called, “My Treehouse”, which we thought would be one of the most difficult to mix. It has a tremendous number of vocal parts on it. Not to mention, a million textures. But…again, Mark came through. So..I feel good about the progress there. Problem is, Mark is a world-class engineer, who’s being paid peanuts for my record. As a result, he has to keep working for other artists and bands. I’m sure every musician making a record on a shoe-string budget out there, can identify. I don’t mind anymore. I worked very hard on this record and it’s time for someone else to toil. On another personal note; I’ve recently entered the world of real estate. Three words: Kill me now. All content copyright 2000-2003, Happy Rhodes / Auntie Social Music.
